July 11th is Baha’i Rights Day

For many months, we have been thinking about creating a day in which everyone can become aware of Baha’i human rights abuses. We approached our friends at Iran Press Watch with the idea and we agreed upon July 11th in order to mark Baha’i Rights Day, a day dedicated to support the human rights for members of the Baha’i faith.

We are working on developing content and more ideas to make this day as influential and effective as possible, however this is impossible without your help and participation.

How you can help:

• Please inform your friends, family and colleagues that on July 11 they should tweet, blog, Facebook or create any material in support of Baha’i human rights everywhere, specifically in Iran where Baha’is have been severely persecuted against for the past 30 years.
• Please use your influence to try and get as many journalists as possible to formally recognize this day and write about Baha’is in Iran or the remaining struggles of Baha’is in Egypt and other countries.
• Please contact other bloggers and request that they dedicate at least that single day (July 11th) to write about Baha’is and their rights.
• Please tweet about it consistently on July 11 and use the #BahaiRights hashtag in order for people to locate. The idea is to make #BahaiRights a top trend on July 11th.
• If you are an artist, a website designer, a musician, or anyone with creative skills please create material in honor of this day and in the name of all the Baha’i victims around the world who suffered persecution and violent discrimination for decades.
• Finally, you do not have to be a Baha’i to participate! Please make others aware of that. It does mean something that this day was created primarily by non-Baha’is who would like other non-Baha’is (especially Muslims) to recognize and act upon the abuse taking place in our name.

We rely on people like you to help make this day possible, despite the short notice. Please start spreading the word as much as possible through all your networks and mailing lists and let’s achieve this worldwide Baha’i Rights Day where we all unite regardless of our race or religion to support Baha’is everywhere!

El próximo11 de julio será el día de los Derechos de los Bahá’ís (Bahá’í Rights Day) Coincidiendo con el día del jucio de los Yarán, BahaiRights.org en colaboración con Irán Press Watch, han escogido este día para concienciar a un mayor número de gente acerca de los abusos de los derechos humanos de los baha’ís, por medio de la blogosfera y las redes sociales. Aún se están desarrollando contenidos e ideas para conseguir que este día tenga la mayor influencia posible. No obstante, el éxito de este día sería imposible sin vuestra ayuda y participación, los internautas.

Cómo puedes colaborar:

• Lo más importante es que todos tus amigos, familia o compañeros sepan que el 11 de julio escriban acerca de esto en twitter, en su blog, en Facebook,… o crear cualquier tipo de material en apoyo a los derechos humanos de los bahá’ís en todas partes, específicamente en Irán, donde los bahá’ís han sido duramente perseguidos durante los últimos 30 años.
• Usa la influencia que puedas tener para intentar y conseguir que el mayor número de periodistas reconozcan formalmente este día, y escriban acerca de los bahá’ís en Irán, o los problemas de los bahá’ís en Egipto y algunos otros países.
• Por favor, contacta con otros blogueros, y pídeles que dediquen al menos un día (el 11 de julio) a escribir acerca de los bahá’ís y sus derechos.
• Twittea acerca de ello consistentemente el 11 de julio, y usa la etiqueta #BahaiRights para que el resto de la gente pueda localizarlo. La meta es conseguir que #BahaiRights esté en el top temas en Twitter el 11 de julio.
• Si eres un artista, diseñador web, músico, o alguien que tenga habilidades creativas, por favor crea material en honor a este día, en el nombre de todas las víctimas bahá’ís al rededor del mundo que han sufrido de persecución y de una violenta discriminación durante estas últimas décadas.
• Finalmente, no es necesario que seas bahá’í para participar! Por favor haz saber esto al resto. Significa mucho que este día haya sido creado principalmente por no bahá’ís, a quienes les gustaría que otros no bahá’ís (especialmente musulmanes) reconocieran y actuaran por el abuso que se está llevando a cabo en nuestro nombre.

La iniciativa cuenta con la ayuda de gente como tú para hacer este día posible, a pesar del aviso tan tardío. Por favor, comienza a correr la voz tanto como puedas, a través de todas tus redes y listas de emails, y consigamos este Día Mundial de los Derechos de los Bahá’ís, en el cual todos unidos, independientemente de nuestra raza o religión apoyaremos a los bahá’ís de todas partes!
